Chinese Visitors get simplified visa process to visit the UK and Schengen countries

On the 1st of July, Chinese visitors to Europe will be able to apply for a UK Visitor visa and Schengen Visa all at the same time.

The UK-Belgium partnership sets the conditions to allow Chinese nationals to apply and pay for a visitor visa to UK and the Schengen zone and for it to be processed from one website, with one set of supporting documents and through a visit in the same application centre: Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

The new UK-Belgium agreement means that Chinese tourists and business people will be able to obtain a visa for Britain and the Schengen area through a single visit to one of three joint application hubs in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

The system had already been streamlined last summer by allowing Chinese visitors to use the same website to apply for a British and a Schengen visa. However, Chinese nationals still needed a UK permit to visit a specific British visa centre for their biometric data to be processed.
